Efraim Halevy was born in the U.K in the year 1934 . He is currently Head of the Shasha Center for Strategic Studies at the Federmann School of Public Policy and Government at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He serves as a consultant to Israeli Government ministries and agencies on strategic issues. He was recently re- elected unopposed for a second term as chairman of the Israel Intelligence Heritage and Commemoration Center (IICC.) He has also been elected chairman of the Zalman Shazar Center for Jewish History.
He served as National Security Advisor to Prime Minister Sharon ( 2002-2003 ) Head of the Mossad ( 1998-2002 ) Israel Ambassador to the European Union ( 1996-19998 ) Deputy Head of the Mossad (1990-1995) Senior Command Echelon of the Mossad (1967- 1990.) Efraim Halevy, auch Ephraim Halevy (hebräisch; geboren 1934 in London), ist Rechtsanwalt und war von 1998 bis 2002 der neunte Direktor des israelischenAuslandsgeheimdienstesMossad. Er trat die Nachfolge von Dani Jatom an und wurde von Meir Dagan abgelöst. Von 2002 bis 2003 war er Vorsitzender des israelischen Sicherheitsrates.
Als eine Person, die in Jordanien Vertrauen genoss, spielte Halevy eine zentrale Rolle beim Aushandeln des israelisch-jordanischen Friedensvertrages von 1994.[1]
Leben und Karriere

Er emigrierte 1948 nach Israel und besuchte dort die religiös orientierte Schule Ma’aleh in Jerusalem. Anschließend studierte er erfolgreich Rechtswissenschaft an der Hebräischen Universität Jerusalem.[2] Von 1957 bis 1961 war er Herausgeber des Journal Monthly Survey. 1961 begann er für den Mossad zu arbeiten und verblieb dort die nächsten 28 Jahre. 1967 wurde er in das Chief Branches Forum des Transatlantic Institute benannt,

Efraim Halevy was the ninth Director of the Mossad, and served from 1998-2002. He was born in England in 1934, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1948. He is married with two children. He studied law, and before enlisting in the Mossad, was the editor of the journal, Monthly Survey, published by the Chief Education Officer.
In 1955–1957, he served as the general secretary of the National Union of Israeli Students, and visited countries behind the Iron Curtain as part of the efforts to establish and maintain ties with Jewish students in East European countries.
Halevy joined the Mossad in 1961 and advanced through its ranks, serving in senior command functions in the Tel Aviv headquarters and abroad. In the first decade of his service, he served in HQ functions, and was active in operations abroad in distant and difficult countries. From 1980–1985, he led the division responsible for bringing Ethiopian Jews to Israel as part of Operation Moses.
