Bir, H.P: Tibetans of Bir and Chauntra settlements organised a long-life ceremony (Tenshug) in the honor of Kyabje Ritul Sonam Tenzin Rinpoche.
The Tibetans of the settlements expressed their gratitude by hosting a grand courtesy event celebrating the work and life of Rinpoche towards the welfare of these communities.
Home Kalon Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang was the chief guest at the event. The event was attended by Khenchen Namdol Rinpoche of Namdroling monastery, Khorkhim Rinpoche, former Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in exile Ven Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Ogyen Topgyal Rinpoche, Additional Secretary Dawa Tsultrim of the Dep. of Religion and Culture, and the settlement officers of the three sub settlements of Bir. Apart from that, representatives of government and non-government organisations including sponsors participated in the event. In total, around 1000 people were gathered to pay tribute to Rinpoche and pray for his longevity.

Lama Sönam Zangpo
Lama Sönam Zangpo (Tib. བསོད་ནམས་བཟང་པོ་, Wyl.bsod nams bzang po) (1888-1982)[1] was a direct disciple of Drubwang Shakya Shri, who specialized in the Six Yogas of Naropa. Also a direct and main student in Bhutan of Dudjom Rinpoche, he was Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche's maternal grandfather and teacher. He was featured in Arnaud Desjardins' movie, 'The Message of the Tibetans'.
Drubgyud Tenzin Rinpoche (aka Meme Lama), born in 1983, was recognized by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche as his reincarnation.

Khen Rinpoche’s grandfather, Orgyen Shenpen, was a highly accomplished yogi who traveled to Jang Damshang and there worked throughout his life to accomplish vast benefits for beings. He remains very well known for his teachings and spiritual songs to this day in that region.
The brother of Rinpoche’s grandmother, Gar Lama Thinley Gyaltso, also known as Nora Rinpoche, spread the teachings of Vajrayana widely in China. The legacy of his service to benefit sentient beings can be found in the dharma lineages sprouted in nearby asian countries that blossomed from the dharma seeds he planted in China. His household was called Gara tsang.
Khen Rinpoche’s uncle was Riwoche Khenpo Drodul and a Dzogchen practitioner, the student of both mahasiddha Jo Rigdzin and Kyabje Jedrung Jampa Jungné. When, Khen Rinpoche was very young, his uncle took him under his care around the age of 5. Beginning with reading lessons, he brought Khen Rinpoche into the study of sacred dharma.
