Hamzah jamjoom biography

Hamzah Jamjoom’s first feature Rupture made its debut at the Red Sea International Film Festival as the only Saudi Arabian film in the competition.

It went on to win the audience award for best Saudi feature across the entire festival.

The ambitious psychological thriller was produced by local outfit MBC production and underwent a complicated, pandemic-interrupted shoot with an international cast and crew.

Rupture is the story of a young Saudi couple who want to start a family and have relocated to London for fertility treatment.

Writer-director Jamjoom sat with Screen to reflect on the project’s production challenges and his goal to subvert misconceptions of his country’s society and culture.

Jamjoom directed the film, which won the Red Sea International Film Festival’s Best Saudi film category. He told Arab News that although Saudi Arabia has its own problems, he, like many, has lived in an otherwise peaceful and calm community.

My mission in life is to clear misconceptions about Muslims, Arabs and Saudi Arabia. Every product I touch in my life, I have

Forged in the Desert, Raised All Over the World
Born with big eyes and infinite love for anything thrilling, Hamzah started telling stories before he could walk. His nation-hoping upbringing made him wildly imaginative and annoyingly inquisitive. Life took him from the blazing heat of the Saudi desert to the frozen lands of Chiberia (Chicago).
It might not be apparent, but Hamzah studied mechanical engineering before getting sick of calculating the “drag coefficient” of spinning fans and switching to animation school. He t
