Foghat’s twelfth and final studio for Bearsville Records, 1983’s "Zig-Zag Walk," is the red-headed stepchild in their 1970s/1980’s catalog. Bearsville did not lift a finger to promote it and some Foghat fans to this day don’t even know it exists. As Lonesome Dave Peverett once sang, "what a shame!" Speaking of that song and its parent album, it did not help that more than half of "Zig-Zag Walk" was comprised of fifties rock and roll and Stray Cats style rockabilly. In fact, only 3 of the album’s 10 songs are more standard Foghat fare – the single "That's What Love Can Do," the new wave-ish title track, and the Erik Cartwright penned "Jenny Don’t Mind" – and by "standard" I mean the later day, pop rock of "Tight Shoes" and "Girls To Chat & Boys To Bounce," which was a sound not exactly embraced by fans.
