A multimillionaire has demolished the slum he grew up in – to replace it with luxury accommodation for everyone who lives there.
Xiong Shuihua was born near the city of Xinyu in southern China’s Jiangxi province in 1955 and said that his family had always been well looked after, and helped and supported by the other villagers.
So when 54-year-old Shuihua ended up becoming rich beyond his wildest dreams working in the steel industry he decided to repay their kindness, by returning to the village and giving everybody a place of their own to live.
A total of 72 families were given large luxury flats in the new housing complex that he created. And 18 families who were particularly kind to the businessman were given villas of their own in a project costing close to £4million.
And if that wasn’t enough, he also promised three meals a day to the older residents and people on a low income to make sure they can get by.

Xiong Shuihua, who was born and raised in the Xiongkeng village of Xinyu city in southern China, felt indebted to the residents who were kind to him during his childhood. Now that he has raised a fortune from the steel industry, the 54-year-old finally got the opportunity to thank them by replacing their shabby huts with luxury flats, reported Mail Online.
Eighteen families, who were particularly kind to the business tycoon when he was poor, were gifted with villas of their own.
His kindness does not end with providing a roof over the heads of the 72 families living in the village though, Shuihua has also promised older residents of his hometown with low incomes that they would be fed three meals a day.
The roads of Xiongkeng village used to be dirty and commuting was extremely cumbersome, but now, thanks to Shuihua, the entire colony looks brand spanking new.

Shui Hua (simplified Chinese: 水华; traditional Chinese: 水華) (November 23, 1916 – December 16, 1995), born Zhang Yufan,[1] was a Chinese film director who gained prominence in the 1950s in the early years of the People's Republic of China.
Career
Born in Nanjing in 1916, Shui Hua studied to be an attorney at Fudan University in Shanghai.[1] During the Second Sino-Japanese War, Shui made his way to the Yan'an where he became a member of the Chinese Communist Party.[1] After the war, Shui became involved in theater while teaching eventually moving into filmmaking with his 1950 debut film, The White Haired Girl.[1] Later in the decade, he directed the critically acclaimed The Lin Family Shop, based on a short story by the author Mao Dun.[1]
With the turmoil of the 1960s and 1970s, Shui's filmmaking days seemed behind him. However, upon China's re-emergence from the Cultural Revolution, Shui again began to direct films, including Regret for the Past (1981), based on a story
