I doubt there are any English-speaking Muslims that have pursued the path of learning Arabic(fus-ha) and have not heard of the “Madina Books” or it’s author Dr. V. Abdur Rahim. Yet, to my surprise, I had some difficulty trying to find any biographical information about the man behind the books. In my search I came across a few things which I might post later, but for now lets just stick with the biography. I tried finding his first name but haven’t found it yet, if anyone knows let me know, insha’Allah.

V. Abdur Rahim was born in the small town of Vaniyambadi in the state of Tamil Nadu, India in 1933. After finishing his secondary school studies, he joined Presidency College, University of Madras where he majored in English Language and Literature. He graduated in 1957. In 1964, he joined al-Azhar University, Cairo, where he did his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Arabic Philology.

So I come home, check my email after a long and tiresome day and read the unfortunate news that the Shaykh and al ‘Allaamah Safi ur Rahmaan Mubarakpure has passed away. The message was forwarded to me by a dear brother which contained a forward of a student in Medina University by brother Abu Imad Rasheed Gant which basically said that after the Shaykh passed away after Salaatul Jumu’ah in Banaras, India which is 2.00 – 2.30 PM there and 1.30 – 2.00 AM Houston time or Central Zone time.

For those who don’t know the Shaykh was one of the major scholars upon the Sunnah in India. He is popularly known for his award winning work on the Seerah of the Messenger of Allah () entitled “ar Raheeq ul Makhtoom” or “The Sealed Nectar“and his supervision of the translation and abridgement of Taseer Ibn Katheer/Kathir. Both these works can be purchased from Dar Us Salaam Publications and are available in English, and I recommend the work on the Seerah to everyone. Aymen Saleem (born January 12, 1993) is a Pakistani actress and model who appears in Urdu television shows. She made her acting debut with Hum TV's ramadan special Chupke Chupke as Ramisha aka Mishi (2021), which earned her a nomination of Best Emerging Talent in TV at Lux Style Awards.

In 2022, Saleem made her television comeback after one year with another ramadan drama Paristan as Pernia, followed by a leading role as Aliya in feminism romance Ibn-e-Hawwa on Hum TV.[citation needed]

Early life and education

Aymen was born in Karachi. She is the niece of the late Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan. Her father, Saleem Yousuf, is a former Pakistani cricketer. She finished her A-levels at Karachi Grammar School. She earned her undergrad in Business with double majors in Finance and Strategic Management in 2017 from Wharton School of Business University of Pennsylvania.[1][2]
