Jordan J.G. Wright is a dedicated public servant and the Assemblyman for New York’s 70th District in Harlem. A lifelong New Yorker and resident of Central Harlem, Jordan graduated from Syracuse University in 2017 with a degree in psychology. 

After college, Jordan worked as an educator in multiple Manhattan schools, serving as a trusted mentor to countless students, with many of whom he continues to stay in close touch. Jordan’s time as an educator has informed the great emphasis he puts on strengthening our education system through his work in the Assembly.

Jordan also served for a number of years on his local community board, honing his passions for affordable housing, healthcare access, and public safety for his community. Jordan’s tenure coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic, which highlighted the need for responsive local government for all Harlem residents. 

More recently, Jordan served as Chief of Staff for New York City Council Member Yusef Salaam, an exonerated member of the Central Park Five. In that capacity, Jordan focused on delivering

Jordan Wright (politician)

American politician from New York City

Jordan J.G. Wright is an American politician.[1] He will serve in the New York State Assembly representing the 70th district from 2025.[2] A Democrat, he represents a majority of Harlem in Manhattan. He is the son of the Manhattan Democratic Party chairman, Keith L.T. Wright.

In the 2024 New York State Assembly election, he held the seat for the Democrats following then-incumbent Inez Dickens' decision not to stand for re-election.[3]

Political career

Wright first served as campaign manager during Yusef Salaam's 2023 campaign for the 9th district of the New York City Council. Following the election, he served as Salaam's chief of staff. In January 2024, Wright launched his Assembly campaign, and received the support of Salaam, outgoing assemblywoman Inez Dickens, Harlem assemblyman Al Taylor and former Congressman Charles Rangel.[4] He received a plurality of votes in the June 25th primary.[5]
