Ramya NSK is an Indian playback singer, who has predominantly sung for Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films. Apart from her work as a singer, she participated as a contestant in Bigg Boss 2. She is the granddaughter of comedian N. S. Krishnan and actress T. A. Mathuram.[1][2][3]

Career

Ramya graduated in Visual Communication from Women's Christian College and later joined the radio station, Radio City. She was posted in Chennai where she worked for the firm as a music manager for five years. Along with Carnatic music, she trained in contemporary style music with the Emmanuel Methodist Church choir for a period of eight years. She also acted in the movie Tharai Thappattai.[4][5]

Having sung over 400 songs for Indian films, Ramya is best known for the song "Satru Munbu" from Gautham Vasudev Menon's Neethaane En Ponvasantham, which had music composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Divya Spandana (born 29 November 1982), known professionally as Ramya, is an Indian actress, producer and politician. She served as the Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Mandya, Karnataka. She primarily works in Kannada films, and has also appeared in Tamil and Telugu films. Ramya is the recipient of two Filmfare Awards South, an Udaya Award, and a Karnataka State Film Award.

Ramya made her acting debut in the 2003 Kannada-language film Abhi. Although she has sporadically worked in Tamil and Telugu films her work in Kannada film industry garnered her greater attention. [1][2] She won the Udaya Award and Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the Amrithadhare (2005) and Tananam Tananam (2006) respectively.
