Augustine Ahmedu (BlackFace Naija)

Augustine Ahmedu also known as BlackFace Naija was born in Obalende Lagos in 1974. He completed his early education at Army Children School Otukpo in 1985 and had his O’ Levels from Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School Makurdi in 1991. In 1996, he graduated from Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu with a National Diploma (ND) in Business Administration and Management.

Though BlackFace Naija attended same secondary school with Innocent Idibia (2Face), their musical partnership grew after they left high school. BlackFace Naija, known back then as “Barrister the Pirate” and 2Face, who was known as “Inni Raps”, were a regular feature in secondary schools social functions around Otukpo and Makurdi. BlackFace Naija’s first major performance outside school circuits in Otukpo was on 23^rd December 1994 at the Most Beautiful Girl in Otukpo Beauty Contest at El Duniya Hotel where alongside 2Face & Spikes Ugbabe, he held the crowd spellbound with a headline performance.

BlackFaceNaija (Ahmedu Augustine) was born to the Ahmedu Ocholi family in Obalende’s Creek Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria on the 30th of August, 1976. The state of Benue is where BlackFaceNaija and his father, RSM Ahmedu Ocholi called home. When his father retired, BlackFaceNaija started his education in the Army Children School in Otukpo, and then went on to Benue’s Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School Makurdi. BlackFaceNaija graduated as part of the class of ’91. He went on to study Business Administration and Management (OND) at the Institute Of Management & Technology Enugu. After this, he decided to pursue his passion for music writing & performing.

BlackFaceNaija, then known simply as “Blackface”, formed the band “Plantashun Boiz” in the late 90s along with 2face Idibia as a member. 2face is one of the biggest acts in Africa to ever cross over to mainstream music in the rest of the world, and together, the duo wrote the highly successful “African Queen”. Early life and Education

Blackface was born on the 30th of August,1974, in Nigeria. He hails from Oguwule, Agetu Local Government, Benue State Nigeria. in one of the North Central states in Nigeria. he started his educational life in 1985, at Army Children’s School Otukpo. And in 1991, he had his secondary education at Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School, Makurdi.

In 1996, he had his undergraduate education in Enugu, where he graduated from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu with a National Diploma (ND) in Business Administration and Management.

Career

Blackface appeared in the music industry in the year 2000, when he founded a band named Plantashun Boyz, which featured 2Baba, also known as 2face, and musician Chibuzor Oji (better called Faze).

Blackface and 2face started their friendship right from secondary school in Benue state. The band successfully dropped two albums titled “body and soul” in that same year, and in 2003, they released ”sold out”. Unfortunately, the band parted ways in 2004 when
