Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) was an Austrian composer, one of the three great Vienna classics. Mozart's father, Leopold, saw to his son's musical education from his early childhood. Young Mozart started performing at 5, giving concerts with his only a bit older sister, Nannerl. Soon he became famous child prodigy across Europe, which, according to his father, was to ensure his financial stability in the future. Leopold strongly campaigned for his son's engagement at the court of the archbishop of Salzburg, a post Wolfgang Amadeus did not want o accept, falling out with his father.

After a few years of intensive touring, the Mozarts settled in Vienna (1767–69). By that time the young artist had already composed some "mature" works for bigger line-ups and complex form. During his next tour, this time in Italy, he noted down Allegri's Miserere (1770) from memory, which was perceived as another proof of his genius and legendary. Mozart was no doubt the greatest child star that ever lived. He was traveling all over Europe playing music by the time he was six. Because of his constant travels, Mozart eventually learned to speak fifteen different languages.

He wrote his first sonata for the piano when he was four and composed his first opera when he was twelve! Mozart could compose anywhere – at meals (he loved liver dumplings and sauerkraut), while talking to friends, while playing pool and even while his wife was having a baby. He composed very quickly and wrote huge amounts of music. It would take over 8 days to play all of his music, one piece after the next, without stopping. One famous piece that he wrote was Variations on “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (January 27, 1756 – December 5, 1791; pronounced MOHT-sart) was a composer, instrumentalist, and music teacher. His full baptised name was Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart. He was born in Salzburg (then a free archbishopric city within the Holy Roman Empire, now Austria). He was the youngest child of Leopold and Anna Maria Mozart. From a very early age, the young Mozart showed great musical talent. He toured Europe with his parents and older sister "Nannerl" for several years. In these tours, he performed for royalty and the aristocratic elite.

As a young man, Mozart worked in Paris, Mannheim and Munich. He returned to Salzburg. In Salzburg, he worked for the court of the Archbishop of Salzburg. He was restless, aware of his genius, and thought Salzburg too small for his talent. He moved to Vienna where he had some success. In Vienna, he married Constanze Weber. They had two sons. He died in Vienna after a brief but unknown illness.

Mozart wrote more than 800 musical works. Many have the highest musical q
